Community Connections

National & International

The people of First Baptist Church of Tucker are committed to living out Jesus’ Great Commission to, “Go and make disciples of all nations.” The good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is not meant for just us and our little corner in Tucker, Georgia. It is meant to move “Beyond our corner, into the world.” Of course, local congregations and ministers are most effective at knowing how to proclaim, teach, and live out the gospel in their own communities. Therefore, we seek to partner with local groups as we find ways to advance the work of the Church around the world. Two such partnerships have become extremely important in recent years:

Iglesia Bautista de Metrópolis, Carolina, Puerto Rico

In the summer of 2012, 39 people of all ages from 5 to 75, left from Tucker, Georgia for a special intergenerational Mission Trip to Puerto Rico. There, we served and worshipped alongside the congregation of Iglesia Bautista de Metrópolis, learning to love their people, their pastor, their culture, their island, and their way of showing the love of Jesus to the world. In October, a group from their church came to Atlanta to attend a conference, and the connections between our congregations deepened even more. Our partnership with this dynamic congregation continues to teach us about how God’s Spirit is at work in every tribe and every nation and how He is worshipped in every tongue and every land.
