Community Connections

Tucker School Partners
The Tucker community is home to a remarkable cluster of public schools.  Many church members and attendees participate and teach in a number of our schools, but proximity and opportunity have led to two important public school partnerships at First Baptist Church of Tucker.

Idlewood Elementary School
First Baptist Church of Tucker began our official partnership with Idlewood Elementary School in 2008.  Some of the ways we help include feeding the entire faculty breakfast at the start and end of the school year, having church members trained to aid in proctoring the annual CRCT exams, working with the PTA on campus beautification projects, helping volunteer at the annual fall festival, and helping the 5th graders purchase their agenda books for the year.  In addition, we have the privilege of helping provide school supplies to the counseling department for needy students and we are able to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas gifts to student families through confidential referrals from school counselors.

Tucker Group Partners
First Baptist Church of Tucker participates in many groups that are active in our community.  The list below reflects some of our community connections.

Networks Cooperative Ministry
Networks is a cooperative ministry made up of churches, individuals, and companies in the Northlake, Embry Hills, and Tucker area.  The purpose of this ministry partnership is to assist individuals who have emergency financial and food needs while also helping address the underlying issues of poverty and dependence.  The offices of Networks are located in the Tucker Community Center at First Baptist Church of Tucker, a former bank building located behind the church sanctuary complex.  Church members volunteer, collect food items, and donate money to the ministry of Networks.

Tucker Civic Association
First Baptist Church is a member of the Tucker Civic Association and participates, as scheduling allows, in the Give an Hour events of the Association.  The church also provides space for the membership meetings and candidate forums of the organization.  Though the church is a member of this organization, as a proponent of religious liberty and the separation of church and state, the church does not endorse or support any candidate for political office, political action committee, or political proposals of special interest groups.

Tucker Business Association
First Baptist Church of Tucker maintains an active membership in the Tucker Business Association.

Tucker Arts Guild
In 2011, First Baptist Church of Tucker and the Tucker Arts Guild joined together to host the Watch for the Light art exhibit in the Mainstreet Fellowship Hall of the church building.  This event was a great success and we look forward to continued partnership with the Tucker Arts Guild in the future.

Tucker Historical Society
Each year, First Baptist Church of Tucker has the privilege of supporting the Tucker Historical Society by hosting the annual Tucker Historical Society Plant Swap in April.  This event is a wonderful opportunity to learn about growing different plants from experts, and to take some plants home as well.

NET Food Pantry
The NET Food Pantry, located in the Tucker Recreation Center, offers emergency food for families.  First Baptist participates in the NET food pantry by collecting items for the pantry and by working as pantry volunteers one month during the year.
